Fringe series finale (spoilers if anyone else but me watches this show)

It was sad....I cried when September died and when Walter left. I did think the finale was a bit rushed but I know they were canceled and wanted to end it. So I liked it but didn't love it. I do wonder though that since they reset time did it reset time in the alternate universe also.

I thought it was a good ending, didn't leave 700 open questions or take some really lame turn (we have another 1500 universes!) The series ended as it started - Walter taking a young boy thru a wormhole to help save the world.

I didn't cry for September but did cry during the Astrid/Walter/Gene moment.

I don't think it also reset time in the alternate universe. Because there was no observer takeover in the alternate universe (FauxLivia universe). Since they closed the portal, then one action in one universe shouldn't impact the other one?

My question is when did Walter send Peter the white tulip - at the start of this season, or at the end shortly before he went into the wormhole?

DH and I just watched it. It was sad, I teared up at a few parts.
What I don't get though is I thought Peter wouldn't be around when things were fixed. His life was saved as a boy by September when he was drowing in the lake, and I thought what they did wiped out all the Observers. Hence September wouldn't have been around to save him.

When Peter went into the machine, it reset that whole timeline like it never happened. That is why Michael had to give Walter back all the memories of Peter rescuing him from the St Catherines, all the time they worked together on cases, etc.

Even so if you remember back, Walter was making a remedy for Peter, but September butted in and stopped Walter from finishing the remedy - if there were no observers Walter would not have been stopped from making it.

Also, I don't know that we for sure can say that by Michael going into the future if that means they would not be any observers. It could be taken that it just means that the observers would be there but would not take over the world because they would be observers but with human emotions (like Michael). The dialogue kind of floated back and forth between "getting rid of the observers" and "Stopping the observer invasion."

Michael is sent to prove that they don't need to sacrifice emotional capacity for intellect.. they can coexist. This means that as humans evolve they will not need to be the clinical Observers.. but more like Michael. Which means they won't need to invade and blah, blah, blah..

The timeline resets in 2015 (or was it 2016) to heal the paradox.. meaning that's the point at which time is 'reset' and everything else remains the same prior to that point. It's the reason Walter made the video tape for Peter with the goodbye message where he says he will be deleted at that point in time and live the rest of his life in the future to avoid redundancy.

It's a stretch.. but it is on par with Lloyd's recent postselection ideas that say time will do what it needs to do to keep things flowing without too much disruption. And it doesn't matter to me because it is a satisfying conclusion to know that Olivia, Peter and Etta live happily ever after. And I LOOVED knowing that Fauxlivia and Linc had a family on the Other Side! I loved "Stop checking out my young ass!" LOL

I thought the plot was predicable but the execution was a bit anti climactic. I only felt emotional at the Peter/Walter moment. I will miss this show a lot. Excellent writing, excellent acting. There were a few episodes where I was like Chat Icon but for the most part, I watched all of seasons 1-4 on DVD cuz it was THAT good. I am so sad it is over! Chat Icon

Agreed on all points, it just stopped the invasion, the Observers still exist, but we are led to believe they have emotion.

The end was blah, and even though I liked that they ended up together, and happy, I was left wanting more. Maybe there will be a movie?

I didn't realize they had been cancelled. In that case I think they did a great job with what they had to work with.

There were a lot of touching moments that I got choked up for. And it mostly wrapped everything up for me without too many questions. I really liked Fringe, but it was definitely time to end.

Re: Fringe series finale (spoilers if anyone else but me watches this show)

I teared up a bunch of times but mainly whenever Walter cried. Such a cute old man! Chat Icon

I want to know if when Peter opened the letter and he looked up suddenly... did he possibly remember everything??? I know its a stretch but I was hoping that he did.

They would appreciate their lives so much more!

And also, when all was reset to 2015, where is Walter supposed to be? We know he is in the future but where does everyone think he is?

Peter will realize that Walter is missing, go to the lab and see the tape that Walter left for him (for the first time) which tells him that he is in the future.

Supposedly a woman has been tapped to write 3 comic books, but prequels, about the Observers. (Maybe to answer the Observer questions that are still open.)
