I am asking b/c I let DS (1 month) go almost 4 hours, while he was sleeping, w/o a diaper change & he peed right through the diaper & the front of his clothes were wet. Should I wake him to change his diaper next time? I usually try to do it every 2 - 2.5 hours when he gets fed.

Def dont' wake him. Try a night diaper or one size up diaper for nighttime.

Don't wake him. Just put on 2 diapers or a size up.

Don't wake him! I would go up a size in diapers at night until your DS is big enough for overnight diapers.

Sorry to hijack but does anyone know-do bigger diapers absorb more liquid? or are they just a larger size?

Hyjacking is welcome otherwise I would never have known that bigger diapers absorb more liquid.

I guess I will be getting DS some larger diapers this weekend. SHould I place his usual size 1 diapers on him & then a size 2 over that one? or just use the size 2 & that's it?

i dont see how 2 diapers at once would work...bec they often leak up and out..not through...so I would think a bigger diaper alone would work better (more coverage) than 2 diapers of the same size! I always use the same size diaper until he starts to leak at night then I use the next size at night and when he leaks during the day I completely move up the diapers to the next size!

Also make sure to point DS's pee pee downward. DH's cousin told me that and it was a life sver.

DS was sleeping 5 hours at night from the day he came home from the hospital I never woke him for a diaper change.

When he was older, like 6 months we started using overnights.

Get bigger diapers.

I NEVER woke up DD for a diaper change, unless it was a BM.

Re: For younger babies that STTN & do not require a night feeding, what do you do about diaper changes?

never woke DS for a change. Move to a larger diaper AND DEFINITELY point the peepee down! My DH didn't get the hang of that at first, but quickly learned the "peepee down" move after changing DS' onesie 3x in one night. hahahaaahahaha. (When DS was really young, less than a month, DH had 2 weeks off work and would take night duty here and there so I could sleep. Chat Icon)

just wanted to add that i do not and have not ever used an overnight diaper. No need for it if the diaper is large enough.

I just saw that pampers has overnight "baby dry" diapers in size 1 - which DS is. You're saying, if I need to, I'm better just using size 2 at night vs size 1 "overnight" diaper?
