For those due in January- christening question...

Wondering if any of you have given any thought to what month you will be having DC christened (if you are) ...I always have this brain blockage as far as weather and months ( you would think I'm new to NY everytime another season rolls around Chat Icon ) I'm thinking April or May most likely (thinking being the key word- LOL!)....Just thinking too far in advance as always !

I am due Thanksgiving time and will probably have her christened in March or April, and that will be during Lent I believe. I had my ds christening during lent it was fine and I was actually baptised on Easter Sunday.

I'm fairly certain Catholic baptisms don't happen during lent.

I don't know what to do about the baptism... becuase I'm due any day now, and REALLY would like the baptism when Scone is 3-5 mo old, but that's the deepest depths of winter Chat Icon what if there's a huge storm?

Re: For those due in January- christening question...

with DD #1 she was born very end of december and we had her christening in April

DD #2 will be born anywhere in 3 1/2 weeks and her christening is already set for February 09.

I like to wait so that the baby is bigger and has had vaccinations already, b/c so many people will want to hold them and be around them and I also want the baby to be big enough too.

Thats what happened with my DS ....He was born Oct 12 and we had the christening Jan 15- MAJOR ice-storm of '05....Ofcourse every day, before and after that it was beautiful- but that peticular day was pretty horrendous (luckily all but 5 people attended Chat Icon )

Re: For those due in January- christening question...

We will probably baptize DC in May, since my sister is getting married in April and her shower will be in March. I wouldn't want to do it before then since I am due at the end of January, and I don't want to put too much pressure on family (or myself!) all at one time.

I don't think (and I could be wrong) that they stop baptisms during Lent - in the older days people didn't take their babies out of the house until after the baptism and I can't imagine that they waited that long. My church does them every Sunday and they haven't said anything about not doing them during Lent. We had DD baptized in May as well, although I wanted to have it done earlier and I don't remember there being any issue.

I had DD in January and we did the christening in April. It was still a little cold so there was no way we could have had anything outside.

Im due Jan 14th

We may Christen the baby right away and then have the party in May or just wait and do them at the same time.

We still have to decide.

I'm due end of Jan, but we're probably going to hold out and have end of may/early June so we can do it here/at the house in the back.
