For those a little nervous about sharing a hospital room
. . . I just got an email from my NYU Medical Center hospital roommate. I delivered on 4/24 and she had delivered the day before. She and I got along really well and are going to meet up with our girls in the city next week!
I remember wondering what my roommate would be like and wishing I could have a private room - but it was really nice to talk with someone about what we were going through. I had a c-section and she had a very complicated delivery and needed to stay in the hospital for a few extra days beyond the typical vaginal delivery, so we got to really talk and get to know one another.
So if you're at all nervous about sharing a room with a stranger (and I was) I just wanted to tell you that you might meet a really nice person

The women i shared the room with, when I had the twins, was really really nice. All the other times I lucked out and had a private room (at no charge).

My sister still keeps in contact with her roommate. They both had girls almost 8 yrs ago.

I am very good friends now with my roommate from the hospital...and our girls were born on the same day so it's great to talk and make comparisons.

My parents are STILL friends with the woman who shared my mother's hospital room (the husband passed away from cancer years ago ). In fact, Mabel was invited to all of our weddings.
We grew up with that family- their kids were like cousins to me and my siblings.

My mom's best friend is a woman she shared the room with when she gave birth - over 40 years ago!
