I always said LIRR is like working in the promised land.
It amazes me to think that a friend had severe eye damage & only has partial vision, but had to use up most of his retirement funds to cover expenses.
However, I can imagine that most conductors would have some kind of orthopedic damage - particularly hips - that would prevent them from doing their job. I think about how many times I've walked down the aisles for a seat & got jolted into metal.

and they are only screwing the system for the HONEST people who work for the LIRR , who in 20 years won't have a pension or benefits because they wasted it!

NOT SURPRISING!!!!
I have family and family friends who retired w/disability from the LIRR who are making well over $100k a year. They retired for anything from supposed herniated discs to carpel tunnel  Yet, they get free golf carts at Sunken Meadow golf course  They go to these LIRR doctors (who are probably getting paid somewhere along the line) to say they are disabled. They take advantage yet some people can barely afford to ride to and from work and LIRR riders get constant fair hikes.
Even though I have family and family friends retired w/disability from the LIRR, I hear them gloat about how they got away with it and honestly, I am glad they are looking into it and this is being exposed. I hope they start following these people around to see how disabled they really are
And the fact that they are claiming they didnt know anything about these statistics is ludacris.
