For Girls who Failed their Gestiational Diabetes Test

Can i ask you what your number was. I have to go back for the 3 hour one and was wondering how much I have a chance of passing this. They said mine was measured at 141 but their base is 139 which means it's slightly elevated. Ughh....I am ready to cry.Chat Icon

I can't remember, sorry! I also failed my 3-hour test. Only 3-5% of pregnant women are diagnosed with GD, so try not to worry. And for those of us who are, it's really not the end of the world. I'll take GD over bed rest any day! Luckily nowadays doctors have effective ways of managing the GD so it does not really put the baby at risk. The strict diet they put me on has kept my weight gain down considerably- a nice benefit! I know it's emotional (believe me, I know!!!), but many people fail their 1-hour & pass their 3-hour, and even if you fail the next one, you'll be ok!

That is very low - borderline - so I will wish you good luck and hope you don't have it. I had GD and my 1 hour number was in the 170's (mid range number).

Anyone who I knew who was borderline in the 1 hour, passed the 3 hour - if that makes you feel any better. Actually - I know lots of people who failed the 1 hour and I am the only one I personally know who had GD.
Don't even think twice about this until you find out the results of the 3 hour!!!

I failed my 1-hour, but passed my 3-hour. My doc told me my number for my 1-hour was 149, I think?

141 is just past the "pass" line. You will probably be okay in the 3 hour. I failed mine with over a 165 and I had GD.
