flu shot and daycare

Do children in Ny need to have the flu shot to attend daycare? I am in CT., and yesterday our center sent out a letter stating that effective September, it is state law that a child enrolled in a day care center or group family day care home, must have the flu shot every year. I'm just wondering if it is like that everywhere, or maybe NY isn't far behind.

So far we are not required by our daycare for them to have their flu shot. I get Chelsea one anyway. Not sure about AJ though. He might still be too young.

Not sure, but IMO it should be.

We aren't required to, but the ped recommends it if they are in daycare so I get it for DS.

I'm not in NY, but I am in NJ and it is mandated that children 6 months and older in a childcare setting need to have a flu shot.

Thanks ladies. Both of my kids get the flu shot anyway, but I was just interested to see if CT was the only state that mandated it. Apparently quite a few parents were upset when they got the letter at pick up yesterday.

I haven't gotten any letters regarding it, but DS already got his first dose. Has the sniffles. Ped. pretty much believes every single kid and person should get one, but if we choose not to, he doesn't.
