Flat Iron/ Hair Straightener questions/ opinions

I'm looking to buy a hair straightener/flat iron. First of all - what in the world is the difference between the two??

I've done some research and it appears that the top products are CHI, SOLIA, SOLANO and SEDU. Does anyone have any experience with these?? What do you like/dislike about them. Also, if you do have one of them, what type of hair do you have??

TIA for all your help - i am going crazy trying to figure this out!

I heard the Sedu is good.. my friend uses that one...

I on the other hand use this one and I LOVE IT!!

Bio Ionic
If hydrating your hair with a flaming-hot flatiron sounds a tad ironic, we suggest you try (ahem) ionic. Not only does Earth's only natural negative ion straightener lock luster into your locks (instead of crunching the cuticle or damaging your 'do'), but it works 50% faster, too. With mineral-infused ceramics/silicone/teflon plates. 1 1/2" plate.

ETA: Bliss spa makes it.... its $165.00

Chi. It's awesome. I dont know what it is or what the differences are but it's great. I prefer the 1" over the 2".

Chi is great. I dumped my hot tools because it was wrecking my hair. Also, make sure you use some sort of protectant on your hair.

I have 2 Solias and a Sedu.

I LOVE my Sedu!! It heats up super fast and makes my hair so shiny!!!!

The Solias are still in their box, unused. Chat Icon (My BIL is a buyer for Linens-N-Things, so he's always giving me free stuff.)

I use Hot Tool from Ulta, VERY inexpensive and does the job for me.

I have about 5 of them. Chat Icon Chi, Maxiglide, Solano, BabyBliss, and something else. The best, no joke, the Chi. I can tell the difference. I have really short hair, but the Chi, works the best for me, even without any straightening product.

I have the remington wet 2 straight and my hair has never looked better! The best part is it doesn't take me forever to straighten it!

Thanks for all the recommendations. After doing a ton of research I've decided on the Sedu. I'll let you know what I think of it once it comes.
