first ultra sound - what to expect
Hi,
I am going for my first ultra sound this coming Tues. This should hopefully show a heartbeat (I pray), a sac, etc. Also, they should be able to determine a due date. Does anyone know what I can expect with this exam? I am of course nervous of them not seeing anything and how it will feel. Since I am convinced I know the day I conceived, I am about 6 weeks, 2 days right now.

I am 6 weeks 4 days today and saw the heartbeat for the 1st time. However, when I went at just 6 weeks there was no heartbeat, so alot changes in a short amount of time. All they did was tell me the due date, how far along I am, and showed us the heartbeat.

an internal exam, if you are about due for a pap smear then they do that then too.... i found the probe didnt hurt... some doctors will take blood at this point some wait. there are a ton of tests they do on the blood.
i also was 2 weeks behind my expected date and thought the worst but went back my next appt 1 1/2 weeks later to find out baby progressed and was ok. so dont freak out yet if the dates are off, it happens

I heard the heartbeart at 6 weeks and 3 days--very exciting! The doctor did caution me in advance that I might not though, so don't get too worried if you don't. They'll be able to tell if everything else seems okay.
They did an internal. It's a little strange--kind of like a dildo with a condom on top, but it didn't hurt at all. And it's fun to see a sign of the baby and hear the heartbeat.

 my husband said the same thing. its really looks like a thin dildo with a condom ontop
