First Doctor's appt on Thursday since I got my BFP..

What questions do I ask? Or can someone bump a thread if it already exists? Thanks!!

(BTW, you may not even see a Dr your first visit. It depends on the office. I saw the NP for my first visit & she wrote the scrip for the prenatals & did the pap, pelvic exam & took my blood...)

I have my first appt. tomorrow PM (hopefully it isn't snowing!!) and I was wondering the same thing. I made an appt. with my doctor specifically, so I'm assuming that I will see him. I'm nervous!! I will try to post for your what happened at my appt. tomorrow since you're going thurs.

Just a few things.

You will get a Pap, maybe a pelvic & they will take lots of blood. Make sure you bring gatorade or juice b/c no joke they took 9 vials of blood.

They did a history, asked about previous PGs, miscarries, family history, and other genetic & reproductive questions. They took my date of LMP & determined a rough DD ( which has changed 3 friggin times).

I then asked a whole slew of questions to which the nurse told me the Dr will go over the schedule & what to do/not to do at my 12 week appt.

I did ask about having sex, lifting, excercisingand foods to avoid. I also was on a lot of meds & natural therapies so I asked about that stuff too. As far as the PG timeline, for tests & such, they did not get into it until my 12 week visit.

I did ask what their emergency hours were & if I could call at any time if there was a problem.

If you have any other conditions, it's good to ask about those. I have asthma and I wanted to know about the safety of the meds, etc. My initial worst symptom was really bad sinus pain and congestion, so I wanted to know what to do about that. Since I was also new to the practice and area, she recommended a PCP to me.

My doctor was very thorough in going over foods to avoid, etc. and other issues, so I didn't have to ask too many other questions.
