First Birthday Party

How far in advance did you book your DC's first birthday party? We will most likely have a very large party so DH thinks we need to start now! DS is only 11 weeks old! Chat Icon
His justification is that there are very few catering halls and hotels in our area (we live in NJ) for parties so we are competing with weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs!

We are having a home party and I've already been planning away since he was about 3 or 4 months old...

Wow! Jordana's 7 months and I just started thinking about it. But I am not having it in a hall. I still think its a little early, but it you think you may need a hall- I guess there is no harm in calling up and seeing what their availability is, etc...

Re: First Birthday Party

I thought it was a little early but GH is a little anal! He is worried that we will "miss out" on all the good places!!!!

I booked DS #1's 5 months in advance and #2's almost 3 months in advance (I'm a slacker). If you're sure of the place and date you want to have it, why not book early? It'll be one less thing to do!

Jacob's bday is in one month and I just started thinking about it now. Although we are NOT having a big party so in your case i would say yes, you should start planning if you are intending on having it in a hall.

Since he will be 1 in Sept. then maybe you should start looking. He does have a point with it being wedding season and if you are limited at locations then I would also start looking maybe come january after the holidays. If you wanted to wait a little longer you could always do a Sunday afternoon event instead of a Saturday evening plus you can save some money.
