Finally doing some work to the house.

We're having our walls skim coated, spackled, and repaired. They're a MESS! All we have to do is prime and paint afterwards.

For 5 rooms (3 bedrooms, a living room and dining room), it's costing $1,500. Do you think that's good?

Edited to say...I was wrong...he didn't prime...but he did everything else.

That sounds good. We paid $500 to skimcoat the walls and celing in our kitchen and a bedroom, which are both pretty small rooms.

for my bedroom and living room walls, not ceilings it cost over $600 for both rooms without materials and a friend doing it. so your price is really good.

That is a great price. We had someone we know do our laundry room area, hall for $800!! We used him again for our bathroom and he just had to fix one wall for $200, so needless to say we are not useing him again. He did alot of work in the house for us too. He gave us a quote to finish the basement which is I guess 20'x14' and he wanted $1000

For 5 rooms of skim coating,he's only charging 1500????????? That seems insanely cheap to me. We were quoted 1k for our staircase walls (which were a mess).

Well...he is done in 2 days!! They were here on Monday from 10 to 6 and got soo much done. They removed the wallpaper and skimcoated the walls...I can't wait to post pics to show you all. It looks like we have brand new walls now. We also got one of the workers to fix a spot in our bathroom at no extra cost. They were clean and mopped the floors when they were done.

That's awesome! I'll have to keep a note of his number. In Sarah's room 2 of the walls have paneling and I was too lazy when I was preggo with Andy to pull it down and fill all the nail holes, so when I'm ready to do that I'll just call him.

Stupid question...what is skim coating? And can it be done to plaster walls? It sounds like something we need despeerately!

WOW that's a great price!!! DH paints on the side and he usually charges a little more than that.. Maybe not anymore though!
