Epidural ....BTDT Moms
If I wanted it ASAP would they give it to me or does my Dr. have to approve it?
The reason why I am asking is because my Dr. wants me to hold of as much as I can and I am worried she won't give it to me when I want it.
I know the Dr. comes the last minute to deliver so does she have the say or do I?

If you need it, you ask for it ! It's all up to you .
I ask for it as soon as I arrived at the hospital. The contractions were coming at every 3 minutes and the pain was horrible.
It took them one hour until I get the epidural.

The only reason I couldn't get it right away because they had to monitor DS's heartrate. They had trouble monitoring it, so they had to make sure that he was okay for like an hour before I was able to get it.

whos your dr...the epidural slows down your dialation my DR however gave it to me at 2 CM because I wasnt dialating anyway-eventually I did!

Thats not always true. I got my epi at 2 cm. An hour later i was at 4 and less than 3 hours after 4 I was ready to push.

Same for me. I had the epidural at 3cm and my DS was born 4 hours later.
My dr told me I could have the epidural whenever I wanted it. I was induced if that makes a difference.

I was dilating VERY slowly and my OB wouldn't approve my epi until I was 4 cm dilated. Finally after 27 hours of labor I got to 4cm and had my epidural. It was great....I fell asleep and in 6 hours, I dilated from 4-10 cm!

I got my epidural hours before the doctor was ever even at the hospital! LOL
I got mine early on and they were shocked with how quickly I got to 10cm!
