Embarrassing as it may be...I still have an AOL e-mail address and need some questions answered PLEASE!
How does one keep their aol e-mail address without having to pay the monthly fee still for AOL! I've had AOL for probably 15 years and it's been years since I used it other than for my email. They still take like $12.99 out of my account monthly and I want to stop this. Yet, everything in my life centers around my AOL e-mail address so how do I keep it without paying for AOL or can't I?

You're probably the Last person earth paying for it. AOL email addresses are free now, so you'd have to cancel if you want to stop paying for it. But you'd have to get a new email handle and I store your important emails somewhere else.

I stopped paying about 10 years ago and still have the email address available to me. You're not paying for the email address you were paying for dial up, high speed connection, etc

I have had the same AOL address for 15 years. The address has never changed. You just call and tell them you don't need the ISP service. Your email address will not change.

Gah!! I am also so embarrassed to admit to paying for aol! Just saw this post and am so happy to say that I too am no longer paying that ridiculous amount (much higher than yours)!! Yay!!!

you are not the only one. I still have one too. Although, I havent paid for it in AGES! Glad you got that resolved. I set up a new non aol one for personal emails and now I just use my aol to sign up on websites and stuff.
Ive had my same aol one since the dawn of the internet, LOL!

Same here. I use it as my junk email so my gmail account isn't inundated with junk emails.

Just to warn you...if you have important emails in your AOL account, I'd recommend moving them. About 2 years ago, they closed my account for no reason, with no warning. And when I called to ask why, they told me that they could not help me...that it had to go through my parents because the account was originally started under their account....about 20 years ago. I explained that the account was very old, and I was no longer living with my parents, and that they were on vacation at the time - and there was no way to get in touch with them....and they still refused to speak with me about it.
Good riddance.
