Edited: reports of roundups are circulating again.
Deleted because I don't have the energy or time to keep going back and forth.
***ETA: my friend continues to maintain that this was witnessed yesterday in Buschwick. Of course reports should be critically examined and everyone chooses what to do with info they hear.

I honestly can't believe this is really happening, but a trusted friend saw it with her own eyes. Plain clothes and uniformed cops are stopping people as they get off the subway, telling them to line up, asking for their 'papers' (id cards), and if they can't prove they are citizens, they are taken away. Apparently they targeted the 7 train this weekend (high immigrant concentration along the 7 line). This is not made up - this is happening. How is this even legal? How does anyone still not see that we are quickly becoming Nazi Germany? This is what she posted:

They're lining people up at Bushwick train stations, first 15 and taking people in to be deported. Be careful, stay present and aware.

Spread it. So people aren't caught unaware/can avoid these places.

They do NOT conduct raids this way. This is false information being put out.
See page 2 of the attached. ICE does NOT operate this way - regardless of who the president is.

According to the paper posted- a picture should be taken and not to report it on social media unless verified. I haven't seen any pictures or verification that this actually happened.
The above image also states- Do not copy and paste reports, and do not screenshot reports.
I think is an unverified rumor and will not believe it until I see an actual picture.

I just saw a variation of this posted on one of my friend's facebook page which leads me to believe this is one of those facebook "game of telephone " things.
If it were true how come people are not coming forward ( I know some people may be scared but if they are truly just picking the first 15 people off the train that means there are people being stopped who have absolutely nothing to worry about)?
Plus even if this does turn out to be true I'm not sure it can be compared to hitler and Nazi Germany since they are not targeting one specific group, just people who are not legally in this country no matter where you are from, what religion , etc. .

Reports of ICE checkpoints and sweeps are false, dangerous and irresponsible. These reports create panic and put communities and law enforcement personnel in unnecessary danger. Any groups falsely reporting such activities are doing a disservice to those they claim to support.

I shared here and not on my FB because I wanted to keep it somewhat contained but allow for discussion. On the original post on my friend's FB she is still maintaining that this was witnessed yesterday by a friend in Bushwick. I urged her to tell her friend to report it to IDP.
While I agree that these should be critically examined, I ALSO think that any report or claim from a federal agency right now should be examined critically. I don't have confidence in their transparency or honesty right now.
Sorry I didn't respond last night - I don't usually come on LIF once I get home from work.

But you see how this is a friend of a friend who you are now relying on? I don't think she is "lying" I just think that whoever told her the story is lying. I would really take back and think about the fact that this is NOT nazi Germany. There are news outlets everywhere and there is still freedom of the press and no one picked up this story. That should tell you something.

There's no "now" about it. This was ALWAYS a friend of a friend. I spoke to my friend and she told me exactly what she was told.
I also wholeheartedly disagree with you about what's happening in this country. I think about it every day and don't need to be told to be critical or think about things. I did a search and saw that there was a local news story yesterday about protests in Bushwick because of the raids. The way it was explained to me when questioned was that people were being pulled aside as they got off the train and spoken to, and some were being detained or escorted out. There ARE raids happening in Brooklyn, 41 people have been detained that we know about. So while the flair of the original post seems panicky, it does not to me seem unfathomable that this happened.

I can absolutely 1000% guarantee to you that this did not happen. Yes, their were raids in NYC a few days ago, and 41 people were detained - 38 of whom have criminal records.
Again, ICE does not stop people on the street. The raids they conduct are targeted raids - not random seizures.
This type of fear-mongering does nothing except cause panic and put law enforcement personnel in danger.
I understand wanting to question everything lately, but all of these operations were planned MONTHS ago - way before January 20.
So Trump taking credit for them is insane, but so is placing the "blame" on him for them. Raids like this happened almost every single day during the previous administration.
