Duvet cover-- anyone have for their big-kid rooms?

Really loving one on Pottery Barn Kids for DD's big-girl room.

I've never even had a duvet cover so I don't know if it's a good idea for her room or not. What, I would have to get a plain comforter to go IN the duvet cover? Would it stay nice & neat in there, or does it get bunched up/slide around in there?

Then it gives me 2 things to wash though, right? The duvet cover AND the comforter, right? Chat Icon

Anyone have one for their child (or even for you for that matter)? Thoughts?

This is it-- also, will I regret getting mainly-white? I don't foresee letting her eat anything messy in her room as she gets older, but you never know what can happen I suppose Chat Icon

And, if I get her white furniture AND this duvet cover, will it be too much white? The pic shows an antique white and I like it.

We have a duvet with no cover on at the moment (dogChat Icon )

I like it, I like the idea that you can change them as time goes on, and I've gotten covers for as cheap as $20 at Target, etc.

Wait, I'm so clueless Chat Icon The duvet goes on the OUTSIDE and you buy a comforter for the INSIDE, right?

I really have no clue Chat Icon

LOL. No, the duvet IS the "comforter" and then you buy a cover to go over it (at least that's what I've been doing, maybe I am doing it wrong?Chat Icon )

And I see the picture and I think it is beautifulChat Icon

ETA-I don't think its too much white, that's waht the picture has, KWIM?

Ah, got it Chat Icon So this is advertised as a "duvet cover" so I have to buy something to go IN it (makes sense since this is the outside piece, duh me Chat Icon Chat Icon )

I can just buy a plain white comforter to go in it? Or I have to find a white duvet? What the heck is the difference? Chat Icon

Its PBK? Let me look at the website, BRBChat Icon

Ok, I just went to look, maybe call them b/c I don't see a "standard" one (i.e. a white one) on the site....see if this includes it and you can buy other covers for it.

Ok. I'm confused now, maybe mine is outdated?

We have down comforters in our rooms and duvet covers for them...I think its easier for the kids because if they get them dirty, you just take the covers off and wash them up like you would to a sheet. I also have a quilt on DDs bed, so she uses the quilt to sleep and the down comforter really just gets folded back at this point.

Re: Duvet cover-- anyone have for their big-kid rooms?

I always called a duvet the cover you put over a comforter - duvet cover seems repetitive to me.

I used to have down comforters with duvets growing up and through my 20s- but honestly, they do get all bunched up and slide around inside. So, you can put velcro on the inside and stick them together. But now I just buy a comforter. It's a lot less work in the end.....

It;s beautiful but I could never have that much white -- mostly because I have a black dog!!

I have these nifty little clips from Bed Bath and Beyond that you clip to the corner of the down comforter and the cover and it holds it stretched out in place.

ITs gorgeous. I come from europe so over there its called a duvet and a duvet coverChat Icon

So I bought a plain white duvet (comforter) on overstock in twin size for DD's room then I bought her three!!!! duvet covers - one was the cheesy ballerina cover - to get her into her room!!! and the other two I picked up at PB outlet and I LOVE them, the PB quality is excellent. I also bought her sheets there and her bed skirt.

Oh and she has an antique white bed from PB and right now a white duvet cover with some pink and green flowers dotted on and it looks lovely - nice and fresh,

I have a PB duvet cover and have a quilt in it, not a comforter. It stays put! I wash the cover often, not the quilt. Also, use it more often as decorative, not always to sleep with, hthChat Icon

Re: Duvet cover-- anyone have for their big-kid rooms?

DH and I have a PB Duvet on our bed and it's much better than others I have had bc they have numerous ties inside so the comforter won't move around.

I do think its a PITA when you have to wash it and put it back on and I would imagine that you would wash it more in a kids room. Honestly, I would probably try to get a regular comforter instead until C can help make her own bed! Chat Icon
