Dry Cough

DS started last night with a dry cough. He was sleeping and then he would cough and wake himself up and then go back to sleep. He slept through the night fine. My friend just called and told me about his cough and that it woke him up from a nap.

He had a cold last week and I have been giving him antibotics and Triaminic. What else can I do? What do you think it is from?

He is going to the Dr for a well visit on Fri anyway.

Re: Dry Cough

My daughter has this as well - it's the season for it - we use a humidifier in her room, which helps a little, but other than that, there isn't much you can do. Also, be sure to check with your pediatrician about giving DS cold medicine - I know some ped's are ok with it, but ours is strictly against until our daughter is older.

Re: Dry Cough

He has a humidifier in his room already. I thought that might help last night but it didn't but once he finally fell asleep he was fine. I told DH to tell the ped about the cough when he goes on Fri.

That's what we did - Alex kept waking in the night coughing, and I was worried that it would travel to her lungs, so we took her to the doc on Monday, and he said she's fine - just a remnant of the cold she had last week. It's really the season for it - hopefully when the weather starts warming up, all our babies will start feeling better!

Thanks. Like I mentioned, he had a cold last week so it is probably from that.
