I would go for something longer or with more detail. It is nice but I don't know if it is "black tie" nice. I would go with tea length at the shortest.

Black tie is formal, which is a longer length dress. I made the mistake of wearing a cocktail dress to a black tie party once, and I was one of the only women not wearing a full-length dress

I LOVE dress shopping at Nordstroms. It isn't a bargain store but the quality and designs are STUNNING. I bought a beautiful Tadashi dress for my cousin's wedding and I loved it.

I actually think it is okay. Outside NY, a lot of people say black tie optional to make sure people are dressed. Outside of NY black ties just aren't as formal as in NY. do you know anyone else going? Can you find out what they are wearing?

Most of my friends who are going are wearing cocktail length. I'm going to hit the mall this weekend and see what else I can find.
