No I dont believe so I guess its youre preference, I know I purchased the wide neck only b.c I was use to the thick Avent bottles when my DS was born and when I researched bottles when I was pg with my DD Dr Browns was the best ...

Thanks. I bought the tall ones. My doctor recommended DS try Dr. Brown's. They are a pain in the neck though taking out the straw when warming.

I believe the wider ones are better for babies that are BF and taking a bottle bc the base is broader.

You don't have to take out the straw. Just loosen the top and it will be fine. The wide neck ones are supposed to be for babies interchanging with the breast. Supposedly the nipple is shaped more like the natural breast and the infant is supposed to take it in up to the wide part -- just like they are supposed to latch.

If you plan to BF and bottlefeed then I think the wide neck ones are a better transition. I BF and also gave him the playtex nursers but then switched because of minor gas issues and he did not like the narrow nipples at all. So if you dont plan on BF then I guess take your pick. In the hosipital the nipples are narrow.

Re: Dr. Browns bottles

I used the wide ones with DS and my only problem with them was when he was trying to hold the bottle on his own, it was harder for him to grip. That's the ONLY reason I got the narrow ones for DD
