Dog rescue organizations?

We're not sure about getting another dog yet or not. I know it's soon after Dakota passed away, but my other dog is just not the same without her. He's never been without her. My older son is still really upset too. We were thinking of getting another Siberian Husky so my other dog will be happy again and have company and my son will be happier. Anyway, I found beautiful husky on Petfinder.com. I first looked at their website and saw that they're a rescue organization, but there's not a rescue office. All of their dogs are in private foster homes. I called the number and it says on the answering machine that she prefers email and would probably respond more rapidly that way. Also, it says that she'll get back to you as soon as she possibly can and that it may take up to 2-3 days. Well, I first emailed them about the dog on Saturday then again today. I even left a voicemail yesterday but have not heard back at all? Chat Icon The dog's picture is still up on Petfinder.com. I had a bunch of questions for them about her and the main one is if she's still available or not? It's been 4 days, and nothing. I'm upset because Siberian's get adopted pretty quickly and I believe she's been on the website for almost a month already, if she's not adopted yet. I really wanted to see her but they just won't respond back. Isn't that weird? Aren't rescue places anxious to find their dogs homes? Chat Icon I guess I'll never hear back from them.

Don't give up! Or take it personally. I wouldn't even be surprised if there was just a day they read emails/returned calls (especially in a situation where it's all fosters - it's not like people from the rescue and the animals are all sitting in one place).

GOOD LUCK!!! Chat Icon

I hope so. I'm just going to be upset if she's not available anymore because the more I see her picture, the more attached I'm becoming. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Dog rescue organizations? UPDATE

Oh well... they finally emailed me this morning and said they never got my other email. So once again I missed out on a great dog. She went out with a family yesterday on a trial basis. If they had received my other email, it could have been us taking care. Chat Icon Of course she's great with kids, other dogs and housebroken. She said if for some reason it doesn't work out with the family they'll call us right away. Yeah right! Of course it will work out. We just keep getting s@rewed over with this dog thing. I'm happy she's with a family, but I wish it was us. The other day someone emailed me about another husky and we were suppose to go see her the following morning but then received an email that morning saying that unfortunately she was hit by a car the previous night and died! Chat Icon It's getting really upsetting. I'm getting attached to these dogs and then we can't seem to get one. I guess we're cursed. At least it's feeling that way. Chat Icon

Hang in there and think positively!! Huskys are BIG dogs and sometimes people think they want a big dog until they actually get them. So you never know, the home that this dog went to may not work out! Not to mention, now they have your name and number and if they get another dog in you'll be on the list of recipients.
