Does your child's elem. class do book orders?

The Scholastic kind? Just curious. Mine doesn't, and hasn't since K. I wish they did though.

Im never really fond of the books that they offer and I find that the kids always want one of the gimicky ones....

Every month they come home with that circular and want to get books. But usually it's not about the books...KWIM?

i send them out in my classroom every month. it's great because the more the kids order, we get TONS of free books for the classroom. it's always such a big deal when i put out the free books we earned--they all fight over them

it's a lot of work to do it, but why don't you ask the teacher if she would consider doing it? if she doesn't, maybe there's a different teacher on the grade level that can send you an order form and you can order through her.

i used to recommend selections so that the kids would bypass the "gimicky" books and nonsense but had to stop that when a parent said since i was recommending them, i should be required to purchase them for parents who can't afford them. it's sad when one person ruins a perfectly good thing--the parents loved that i recommended books that were appropriate.

When I was a kid.... I was a SERIOUS BOOKWORM. b/c of this.... my mom put a $ limit on how much I was allowed to order. and it was always a book.... sometimes she would let me get a quarter bookmark for the order. beyond that - i was probably at the library every week or 2.

We get them through daycare which is great b/c my DC are too young to tell me what to pick - I will pass them on to you if you want Summer

My school does. My son loves them.

My son isn't in school yet, but I had to add I have SUCH happy memories of picking out books (my mom allowed 3 per order) and then of the day when the box was delivered to school

I like them and love anything that encourages reading!

I send them out in my class every month. I get tons of orders and think it is a great and fairly inexpensive way to build a library at home.

Yes I get one every month. Even from DD's preschool.

I am a teacher, i roder them monthly. My DS has about 200 books already!!! You should check out the warehouse in deer park, they are the same price plus 50 percent off...they are open in may and december and august
