I know at Daniel Street School they have a PTA sponsored program; it's one day a week for about 2 hours. It is not really academic--it's more to expose them to the school that they will attend starting in Kindergarten. They will also meet the Kindergarten teachers and attend assemblies & things like that. We signed our DD up.

ETA: They had registration in the beginning of June so if you are interested I would call the elementary school local to your home as soon as possible.

but no every day pre-k though? we might be moving to lindenhurst. DD had gone to a nursery program at St. Martin's in Amityville.. I wasn't planning on sending her to St. Martin's for pre-k b/c it's on the $$$ side- we were going to go through the district as they have universal pre-k.. guess Lindenhurst doesn't...

I think the house we may be buying would go to Daniel St.

You can apply for the lottery for free 5X week pre K through the district. My neighbor goes and loves it.

I'm sending DD to a preschool that isn't part of the district but will send her to the PTA "intro the the school" program that a previous poster described when she is 4.

Nope, they just have the one that the PTA does. My sister actually runs it. It's onely one day a week just so they get get used to the school . All of the elementary schools have it. I will be sending my daughter to Pee Wee Folks in Lindenhurst 3 days a week and to the District Prek once a week.

I should have added earlier on that my DD goes 3x a week to Miss Midgies in West Babylon. It's very reasonably priced.
