does anyone know how to program your remote control?
we want to be able to control both the cable and tv from the cable remote..but i dont know how to do it.
We used to be able to do it, but we got a new tv..

You can always look online for this information with the new TV. Look for the remote control brand and then it will give you the programming for different brands of TV and how to do it. It's usually pretty straightforward, which is good.

With our digital cable, there's a channel that walks you through it. It was pretty simple for us

Your cable comes with a card thingy that you have to match up the name (sony, toshiba, etc.) and they give you codes. Then you have to hold down the TV button for a few seconds untill it starts flashing, then punch in the code, then hold down the TV button again. But, there are a few codes for every maker, so you have to try the different codes.

if you have cablevision, you need the code of your tv, then enter it via the remote of the cable box....if not, the cablebox and automatically search for the right tv code and all you have to do is push stop when the tv turns off
