Does Anyone Know...

if there is any correlation between your mother's pregnancies and your own?

I guess I am thinking more of the size of the babies and the amount of time spent in labor. I'm hoping there is--my sister and I were both smallish (not too small, but not big) and my mother was not in labor very long and had no complications.

I'm guessing there isn't much of a relationship, but was curious to see if anyone knows about this.

I'm not really sure but I do know that my Dr. asked me what size babies my sisters and I were...I guess in order to compare my mothers pregnancy with mine.

But it really didn't matter in the end b/c I was induced at 38 weeks.

When I went for my growth sono about 3 weeks ago the technician asked me how big I was at birth. So I think there may be some correlation with the size but I ma not sure about delivery.

I wonder- but I am so far having the EXACT same pregnancy my mom had with me, which I think is weird.
I think babies are generally bigger nowadays, because we do everything so much healthier.

My mother smoked with my sis,bro and me, so we were small. My baby is already 3 lbs more than i was when i was born. so no correlation btwn my moms and i pregnancy

That's a good point about bigger babies today. I know my mother was told she could only gain around 15 lbs. with me ?!? And she said she didn't gain much more than that! That's crazy--the poor woman must have starved herself. She wasn't overweight starting out either.

So far, I've gained about double what she did, and there are still 10 weeks to go, so this could be a larger baby!

I would say my pregnancy has been a lot like my mother's so far, even down to food aversions and cravings. Hopefully my labor will be not too long like hers also!

In my case there definitely wasnt really any correlation..or what there was was probably coincidence.

My mom had her kids early (4 weeks and 2 1/2 weeks) As did I...BUT my sister had all of her kids on or after her due date.

My mom had smallish babies..didnt smoke or drink (it was Ok back then) My sister and I have largish babies....

I hope there is no correlation....I was 8lbs 6oz!
My sister was about 6 or 7lbs and I think my niece was too.
