Does anyone have a big age gap with their kids?

I had my daughter when i was young, and now that im married and have a house some days i think about having another one. DD is going to be 6 in October, so if we conceive in the fall she will be almost 7 by the time the next one is born (if we decide to have another). I cant decide if i want to go back to sleepless nights and diaper changing, afterall, she is so independant now. But on the flip side, like i said i was young when i had DD so i didnt get to enjoy the pregnancy as much, and i hid it from my family until i was 6 months, and i would like to have that experience with them.
So does or did anyone have similar dilema's? Which way do i go?

Re: Does anyone have a big age gap with their kids?

I have a 10 year old son.. I had him when I was very young with DH ( we werent married at the time).. I was nowhere ready for any more children but when I decided to give him a sibbling he was about 5.
Thing is.. it wound up taking me years to concieve him.. so now hes 10 and I have a 2 year old..
I was concerned about the age diference but I have to tell ya.. my son LOVES his little brother.. he wants to play with him all the time, he tries to teach him things, he begs to bath him and feed him.. he just adores him.
Its so nice to watch and its also a HUGE help.

Everything was so new to me with that pregnancy too.. I guess I sorta forgot just about everything..lol
Yes, I enjoyed the pregnancy SOO much more ( even though I was much sicker) becuase I got to share it with all my friends and family this time.. Nobody really got into it with me the first time because I was unwed and 23..
This was a totally different experience.

Going back to sleepless nights after not having them for 8 years was tough, but you know its all worth it. I was sad for my 10 year old alot not having a sibbling so its just awesome.

Now im doing it all over again and my 10 year old is SO excited again.. Hes gonna come with me and DH when we find out the sex..he really wantes to be a part of everything..

Its a personal choice of course
Good luck with your decsion..

My sister's boys are 9 years (almost to the day) apart. It wasn't intentional, but she's thrilled they have "each other". Chat Icon

My Dh and his sis are 10 yrs. apart. (same situation as yours...young pregnancy) They are very close and he was a big help to his parents when his sis was little.

my mom and her sister are 7 yrs apart and they are very close and my best friend and his sister are also 7 yrs apart and they are very close i think it depends on the kids cause i know kids that are 3 yrs apart and are not close at all. goodluck in what you choose but if you want another one it will work out

My DH has a brother and sister that are 18 and 20 years younger. They are so in love, respect and infatuated with each other I often stand back and watch it as if its sureal.

I am preggo now and my son will be almost 10 yrs older than the baby. For now, he is estatic to have a brother/sister, we'll see when the baby comes.

As for me, I am so much more secure and stable both financially and emotionally that I am enjoying every second of it.

I have a step-daughter that lives with us that will be 10 by the time the baby comes (she is from DH's first marriage). So, while I never myself went through the diapers and late-night feedings, they will be 10 years apart. Right now she is so excited to have a little brother or sister...she will probably want to help do everything. I'm hoping the transition for all of us is fine.
