Do your social activities revolve around DC nap/bedtime?

Seriously....am the only one who watches the clock/kid for when they are tired and try to be home for them to sleep???

We had the HARDEST time Christmas day with dinner....she was SO cranky by 6pm for her bottle and to go to sleep (she skipped the afternoon nap in the car which we were counting on).

When we go out, I try to make sure she's home by bedtime and when running errands, I try to make sure I do it in the 2-3 hr window so she can take her nap at home.

I definitely plan things around nap time. We have arrived late to things because of it but we always let whomever we have plans with know this beforehand. It will not be fun for any of us if Damien doesn't have his nap.Chat Icon

I try but I don't run my life around it completely. We stay out late at times or miss naps all together but I would say the majority of times the things we do are with other people who have kids so it ends up working around naps and bedtimes.

No, I am the type to go with the flow. On Christmas Eve and Christmas, we just brought our pack and play so that if Lauren needed to nap, we could put her down. We were out until 11 p.m. or later both nights, and the kids did fine.

Now on a daily basis, if I need to do something we do. But if I can wait until after a nap, we most definitely will.

Yes and no. If its a special occasion or the time cant be changed, I deal with it. Otherwise, yes I try to have DD home for her nap. She's losing the nap though, I can feel it. The baby can still sleep anywhere.

Honestly, I was schedule/routine crazy during Michael's first year and I think it really helped him adjust to everything now. I usually adjusted my social things around Michael's nap/sleep - of course there were some days it didn't really work, but I tried my best to work around it.

One thing my husband told me a few months ago was the thing that really helped us with Michael was the fact that I was/am so anal with his "schedule", lol...

Not at all.. i come and go as i please and he will nap in the car, or the stroller while shopping etc. Mind you its not "GOOD SLEEP" and that is prob one of the major issues why he doesnt sleep thru the night. Chat Icon Chat Icon But on the days i am off from work, i must get errands done, and I cant wait around for him to nap or not nap or maybe nap or nap for 10 min or 2 hrs.. he is so unpredictable..

Yes, I do. Chat Icon

He has never been a good sleeper and we always try to preserve whatever little naps he will take by maintaining a routine.

I am always out drinking coffee, usually I am out of the house from 9.45 am until around 12.30, then again from 2.30 until around 5ish...Noah will have a nap in the morning if we are home, if not, he will nap while we are out in his pram. I am really lucky with him, he really only needs 1 good nap a day, today he had an hour at 9.30 am and has been awake and quite happy all day...

When Nate was younger we went out around his nap/sleep schedule. If we knew we were going to be out late, we would leave him with ILs or make sure he had a place to sleep whereever we were.

Now he just kinda goes with the flow.

Re: Do your social activities revolve around DC nap/bedtime?

Yes. Maybe too much so. I always make sure we are home by 7 for bedtime, and am pretty strict during nap times - although his afternoon nap we are sometimes out of the house for - especially on the weekends when Daddy is home, but I try to time it so at least he can sleep in the car. The holidays we relaxed a little bit, but we hosted Christmas eve night so it was easy to stick to his bedtime schedule.

Funny, but before having a baby I thought that mothers who were so strict with their baby's nap and bedtimes were anal. Now I completely understand. If he misses a nap, or does not go to bed at 7, he is SOOO cranky.

I make sure we are home for her 8pm bedtime but naps no. She is still not really on a nap schedule and naps in the car or stroller fine.

nope - we just go with the flow.

Ella doesn't have a scheduled routine, though she does have a nap/sleep pattern.

She's pretty good at napping wherever we happen to be.

Re: Do your social activities revolve around DC nap/bedtime?

No. Definitely not. Ava is extremely flexible. She'll sleep anywhere, and if she stays up too late, it doesn't throw her off. So, we really live our lives like we did before. She just comes with us.
