I'm not sure, sometimes I think they do but I think it's different from what we feel. When DH and I talked about this, he thought I was nuts....so apparently, he hasn't experienced the old clock ticking.

Absolutely. They have decreases in hormones and sperm count at certain ages but those ages tend to be higher than when women's decrease in fertility start. The rate at which it decreases is also a lot slower.

Absolutely...they just might not "feel" it the way women do. Oddly, I'm learning from being married and having brothers [I grew up with only sisters] that guys have dreams and plans for their offspring.

DH confessed one day he'd always planned to have a baby by 28 [he turns 28 in 5 months, baby in 2]. The other day, BIL confessed to MIL that he is "bummed" b/c his plan to have a kid of his own by 28 probably isn't happening [he's 26 and no where near serious enough with anyone to get engaged, married and have a baby within his "timeframe"].

I honestly NEVER would've believed men thought this way if I hadn't heard it with my own ears!

Re: Do you think Men have a biological clock?

It was my thought that you meant actual biological/physical limitations to fertility as they increase with age. If that is the case, then what I said in a previous post supports that thought.

If you are talking about the emotional part? I have different thoughts about it. On some level, IMO, I think that men have an innate sense of needing to perpetuate their family line. By virtue of the fact that they are human, established social norms and graces prevent them (with the exception of maybe Flava-Flav and a few others) from doing that with more than one woman at a time and multiple times.

I think that since men are fertile longer than women are, that many are not in a hurry to run and have kids as soon as they can. When I was 25, I wasn't concerned. When I turned 30 and I was single and unhappy and not in a relationship, I started to freak a little. At 36 with no kids and not nearly enough time on my hands, I am officially in panic mode as I go to an RE on Monday.

Do you think that is why my DH is not in such a rush, because he figures we have forever...even though I keep telling him about the limited amount of eggs I have....plus, how I am getting OLDER!!!!!!!

Good Luck at the RE on Monday!Chat Icon

Chat Icon I wasn't sure about this one until DH informed me this weekend that he is not getting any younger. Looks like we have to sit down and chat.
