Do you have the window open or cracked in the winter?

We do. the colder it gets, the more closed the window is..but its ALWAYS cracked..

I think maybe its becasue heat is included in our rent and we can put it at any temp we want and no worry about it...

another reason is because about 4 years ago, when I was out in NY for THanksgiving, my parents carbon monoxide detector went off....omg it was soo scary...I have always heard if you hav a window cracked, you are pretty safe..

I think I am going to have to. The heat in our place is weird. At 70 it gets super hot, like can't breathe hot, but if I lower it to 68 it gets too cold, like the tip of my nose is freezing right now. So I think I am going to start keeping it up and cracking a window and see how that works.

NO! we need better windows. they are so bad. they have bad drafts.

i am too nervous to bother the landlord though

No. Then my heat would always come on and I would have a $1,000 oil bill.

YES. only in the bedroom.

only in the bedroom! i need fresh air while sleeping and with dry heat i would get such a bad soar throat in the am without having the window open!!

My apartment gets so hot its ridiculous. Sometimes we keep the window open but half the time we have our AC on!!! Yes it does get that hot!!!

Every year (since DH and I were living together before we got married) - I would agree with him to shut the window he loves the fresh air.
He eventually stopped opening it.
Well, now that I am pregnant, I HAVE to have the window open every night. The fresh air makes me sleep soooo much better!! Making a happy pregnant lady!!!

in the bedroom my husband always opens it because it does get too hot.

IMO (and I am not trying to start drama) - this is a big waste of energy, just because you don't have to pay for your heat doesn't mean you shouldn't think about conserving energy. Especially, with our country being so dependent on oil and the troubles we are facing because of it. If you are worried about carbon monoxide you should consider buying a detector.

We do because our heat is included in rent and they crank up the heat really high!

In the bedroom DH does he says its too hot. but lately hes been turning down or off the heat at night to save on the oil and then I wake up freezing!!!!

Our heat isn't generated by specific unit (meaning ours) but rather by apartment complex, so everyone gets the same amount of heat. It gets unbearable. I sleep with a window cracked and a fan all year round. Even in the summer, with the AC on, I need a fan. I'm odd.

It gets so hot in here that we often have the window(s) wide open!

I keep it cracked in the bedroom only..when we are sleeping...I do conserve energy...I do not put the heat at higher than 60 ever, as we are on the 3rd floor, and heat rises...and I do have a carbon monoxide detector, even when we had that scare we had it, but its still very scary to me.

Nope closed. Oil is to much $$$ and the heat would just keep coming on.

We have to open the window sometimes -- it can get unbearably hot. Yesterday it was over 80 degrees in our place We live in a building and cannot control our heat.
