Do you have a rice cooker?

If so:

1-what brand?
2-what size?
3-do you like it?
4-how's the cleaning up aspect of it?

I'm tired of the mess that comes with making rice and considering I make it 2 times a week, I am cleaning the grates of the stove all the time.

We do! We love it... we make rice very often so it comes in handy!

Ours is the Cuisinart... I think it's 4 cups. We definitely love it - and cleanup is super easy. You just have to clean the black nonstick part that the rice is cooked in and the glass lid!

The rice is pretty quick also... maybe 10 minutes or so?

I own two rice cookers. One is a 3 cup cooker (Zojirushi) and the other is a 10 cup by Tiger. I use the 3-cup when I'm making rice for DH and I, and I use the bigger one when I'm cooking for a party. I love them both. They're easy to clean and make perfect rice every time!

I did, but I gave it away on Freecycle, it was harder to clean than a saucepan, and a waste of electricity in my opinion. I know people love them, because all over the world they use them religiously, but I prefer a saucepan.

ETA, if I could have afforded a fancy fuzzy logic Zojirushi one, I would have gotten one. They are used all over Asia...

I have the same one. It's wonderful! You can steam veggies in it too- we use it all the time.

What kind of rice are you making that does this? I've never had problems on the stove before so I am genuinely curious.

Re: Do you have a rice cooker?

we had one, but got rid of it.

I cook rice at least once a day, everyday.

So much easier to just clean the pot.

DH thought the rice tasted to Asian and not Spanish enoughChat Icon

even my niece can tell the difference between the white rice we get from the chinese place and the rice cooked at home.

I cook my rice with onions in olive oil before adding water...not sure you can do that in a rice cooker.

but they do make the making look fool proof.

in Japan, I almost bought a rice cooker b/c SNOOPY was on it Chat Icon

Really? I make rice 3 or 4 times a week and never have a clean up problem. Is the water bubbling over? If so, you are probably not using a big enough pot, or (less likely) you may be keeping the heat on too high.

I've got one in a give-away box if you're interested (it's been used probably twice).......I never make rice so I never use it and don't have room to store it for when I DO make rice.

I have a 10 cup Farberware Nutristeam.
I like it and cleanup is easy. It has a steamer tray to steam vegetables
