do you ever get really annoyed with your DH that you just want to scream????
ugh... i'm just so annoyed right now...
We both have a 30th birthday coming up, so i was thinking of having a joint celebration at our new house, the week in between our birthdays...Not a ton of people...i'd probably invite 20, and maybe 15 would come..
so, i'm all excited about it, cuz i love to plan things and then he says he doesnt want to do anything... so i said i dont want to make a big deal out of it either, but it is both of our 30th, why not have a small celebration???
So, i'm all excited and i created an evite to send out and he says again, he doesnt want it...he doesnt want 50 people here, and we dont have the money to supply the food, drinks etc...
***??? i'm annoyed...am i wrong?>
It would probably be 15 people, i can keep the food simple...and get beer and wine..
Any advice on how to deal with this?? i'm so annoyed i dont even want to speak right now, so i figured i'd write to you guys... TIA

Just explain to your Dh that you will keep it small even if it is with just friends. maybe you can make it a potluck where everyone can make a dish and maybe some people can bring sodas,beers , chips. and you can order a heroe. try to keep it limited. gl i hope it works out for you.

I think you guys should come to a compromise. Personally I think its a really nice thing to do. Since he is really against the party why not still have it but make it YOUR birthday thing and do something that he wants to celebrate his birthday

Ax his birthday & just do it for yours... just kidding. My dad isn't one for crowds (feels claustrophobic), my mom loves having people over. They compromise.
I would explain that it really means a lot to you & that you'd appreciate if he could give in this time, he can consider that part of his present to you.
And to answer your question...I don' t just want to scream - I do.

nah..he's definitely not planning a party for me..he doesnt' like surprise parties and he's not a very good planner when it comes to things like that.
I think i'll just tell him that i'd really like to have it, we'll keep it simple with food and drinks...and to get over it- you only turn 30 once, so why not make a celebration out of it

Maybe he's not so happy with the idea of turning 30, and doesn't want to make a big deal out if it?
My father is like that. The man HATES his birthday.

I know how it feels though to try and do something nice and you feel really excited and then DH says he doesnt want it. I planned something for our 1 year anniversary and I was sooo excited. I told him about it and he seemed to have reservations about doing it...I was really upset. Eventually we spoke about it and I am still going to do what I had planned but I was still really upset!
