Do newborns see shadows?

Well, maybe not the best way to word the question. But I notice that Sasha appears to be staring at blank walls-- then I notice that there are shadows on the walls that she may be looking at.

Is this a visual that registers with them? Or is my little girl either very boring, or using her imagination already?? Chat Icon

Re: Do newborns see shadows?

Yes, they do see shadows.

However, I believe they see ghosts when they are staring at corners and whatnot Chat Icon

Re: Do newborns see shadows?

DD would STARE at our curtians, and it has a pattern in them in the same color which looks like shadows so possibly, but I'm also completely hypothesising here...LOL

I believe the same thing. Actually DS stares at the same corner in our bedroom, and I have no idea why, there is nothing special there. I'm curious to see as he gets older what he does.

I always ask him 'Who's over there huh?' But obviously the kid can't speak, so he just stares at me. In my head I wonder if it is my Grandmother holding his brother. While my grandmother was in the hospital dying hooked up to every machine possible, she wasn't able to talk and was basically unresponsive. But when my mother and I went in saying our goodbyes, I asked her to take care of my baby in heaven, and she blinked her eyes open and closed.

Geez, I'm tearing up just thinking about it. I truly believe that they both visit us when he is staring in that corner. One could say i'm being silly, but it's what I believe.

I believe it too.

My son pointed to a picture of my grandmother, who he never met and called her by the name we called her as kids, which we don't use now.

He also laughs when he sees pictures of my grandfather (who was a riotChat Icon )

Lily also points to my grandfather and calls him "grandpa", even though she was 5 months old when he died. I completely believe they can see spirits.

Shadows too. Spirits are just more fun!
