Did you or are you getting a sonogram in your 3rd trimester?

So I am 32 weeks and I went to my a regular appointment this week and the doctor did not mention getting another sonogram. At the last visit she said the next sonogram would be at 34 weeks. So I asked her about it it and she said she would give me a referral but that I did not need to go. She said she sends her patients when they are having a problem or if they just feel better having another sono. She said if I did go it is best to go around 34 weeks so at least she could use the information.

So I debated and then called last night to make an appointment. I mean of course I love to see the
baby but I already had 4 sonograms during this pregnancy and there is one school of thought that feels it isn't great to have too many sonograms. Did most girls on here get a sonogram in the 3rd trimester? How many sonograms did you get with this pregnancy?


Thanks for the responses. They were very helpful. I am trying to decide whether I should just cancel the appointment since it is not a necessary that I have the sonogram.

i have had tons of vaginal sonos recently to measure my cervix, but none to look at the baby since 20 weeks. my OB doesn't do any routine sonos after 20 weeks unless there's some indication of a size issue.

I have to get growth sono's because of my GD but my doctor was going to do one before I even failed my glucose tests.

So far, I had sono at 5w4d, 7w4d, 8w2d, 9w2d, 10w2d, 12w5d (ultrascreen)16w4d (amnio), 20w1d (Level II). According to the breakdown of all remaining visits I got from my MD, I will have a sono during 26w and 32 w.

I had one at 30 weeks only because they thought the baby was breech and then I just had one the other day (39weeks, 4days) to check my amniontic fluid level and the size of the baby since my blood pressure has really high.

I've had a few because of some complications but I know routinely, I am due for the growth sono in about another 2 1/2 weeks.

my last sonogram was at 20 weeks... as long as your pregnancy is going well, I dont think most doctors do a sonogram later on...

I am high-risk so my situation is a litle different, but I have had both transvaginal and external sonograms every week since week 13 (I'm at 27 now). Those are done in the drs office. I do know that sometime in the near future I will be going back to the hospital for a growth sonogram.

I had one at 30 weeks just because I had a low lying placenta in the beginning. If it wasnt for that my level 2 would have been the last one.

I haven't had one since my level 2 in March! My doctor's office doesn't give more unless there is a problem.

I only had one b/c DS was measuring small.

I got a growth sono at 37 weeks, 5 days cause I was measuring big...I had a 9lb, 8oz baby at 39 weeks

I had a growth sono at 32 weeks. My dr decided that she is making them routine for her OB patients now. I doubt I'll have another one- or at least she hasnt mentioned it at all!

though i don't expect to get any from my doctor, i'm still contemplating a 3d/4d out of pocket sono. not sure if its worth it b/c they don't guarantee a great shot, it depends on the baby and it would be $$$ so not sure yet.
