It's horrible last year we were capped at $1.59 and this year we are capped at 2.39 I believe. It's ridiculous, so it looks like my house will be pleasantly cool this winter

I KNOW!!!
My Dad is retired and on a fixed income. He's also homebound from a disability so the heat must be up all day The cost of running his home has grown exponentially the last few years.
As for us, same thing. We are buying a bigger home. I guess those two fireplaces it has (one can burn coal) are a blessing in disguise.

i think its called HEAP. (health & energy assistance program)... something like that. he should definately look into it!!

I'm not sure if he would qualify because technically my brother lives in the house too. My Dad can't live alone due to his disability.

I think I locked in at $2.29 until April. I know I used to be at $1.89. Years and years ago we were at $.89!!!

back in may, we locked in at $2.04.
my aunt and uncle just locked in at $2.62. 
they WERE locked in at $1.59 from last year this time!!!

Well I am sure come November I will get a letter in the mail saying our maintenance for the co-op is going up and they will blame fuel for the cost increase.

We have Petro, paying $2.49. Does anyone have any reccomendations?

OMG... DUMP PETRO! They are always the most expensive. Four years ago my dad had a 1000 gallon tank. I was so pi$$ed at Petro because they delivered 550 gallons during the first week of April!!!!! There was no way I needed oil until November of that year. I got rid of them on the spot and joined a group that buys oil in bulk and sells it cheaper (20 to 30 cents per gallon) than the going rate. Unfortunately, you can't lock in with them. They are 1-800-OIL-HEAT. I beloieve you have to pay a $25. membership fee but you will save that it no time.
Problem with Petro is that they have been buying up all of the smaller companies and I heard most recently merged with Meenan so they have a huge market share
I HATE PETRO They are always the most expensive oil of all of the other competitors.
