Did you get a professional photographer for your DC's first birthday?

Did you get a professional photographer for your DC's first birthday?
How much should I expect to spend?
Not sure if we should get an event photographer or an outdoor/studio shoot. I'm leaning towards doing a professional photo shoot on a different day from the party.

I plan on doing professional shots for being 1yr old...and a cake smash. For the party, I'm just asking my friend to take pics with my DSLR.

That is what I was thinking. Everyone has a fancy camera these days. We bought BIL a super nice lens for Christmas. I was going to ask him to take pics at the actual party.

We did a photoshoot, but I had a professional photographer at her party I used Roy from nyvisual I was able to send each kid their pic with the thank you cards
