Just curious since money is tight, when DD is ready, should we just get a twin with the rails on the side?

We plan to go right from the crib to a full w/ those temporary side rails. I like it better than the toddler bed, b/c I can lay with her if she is sick, or to read a story. I feel like this will help keep her in her bed, and out of ours.

DS went right to a twin.
The crib does convert, but, DD needed the crib, so, we went for the twin.
We have his bed up against the wall. There was still a small gap, so, we have rails on both sides.

we did, and we plan on him using it until he moves out and even then he can take it with him.

Re: Did anyone skip the toddler bed and go right to twin?

Went right to a twin for both my boys for 2 reasons:
1. Why have them get used to 3 different sleeping arrangements (crib, toddler bed, twin bed)?
2. Financially...why buy a toddler bed they are only going to use for a couple of years, only to have to buy another once they outgrow it?

Re: Did anyone skip the toddler bed and go right to twin?

I think it depends on the child....My niece went into a toddler bed at 16 months..she was no where near ready for a twin, but was climbing out of her crib...

Her toddler bed was only $69...so cheaper then a dinner out ...lol...

She is 3 and 1/2 and still uses it.

For us...My son prefers sleeping in bigger beds, so his crib turned into a toddler bed and he doesnt like it..he wants more room. We are going to likely get him a twin.

So two different situations...I think it depends on the child.

Same here, DD went to a twin to make the crib available for DS.

It took about 1 or 2 days to adjust. We ended up putting the PNP in her big girl room, if she got out of bed we told her she would go in the PNP-we had to do that 1 night. She learned her lesson and it hasn't been a problem since. DD is 2.5 now, we moved her 3 months ago.

at 12 mos mine went into a queen.

he broke our crib and threw himself out of it.

I had a queen size in his room anyway for when my parents come to visit.

I can't get rid of it now still need it for company.

I'm going straight to a full. I'll let you know how it goes when we get it delivered next week.
