DH could have been badly injured or killed yesterday by a girl driving under the influence!!!
As most of you know, DH is a Police Officer in White Plains. He was working last night (they normally don't have partners). He came across an intersection which had a flashing yellow for him, and a flashing red for others. Some stupid b**ch blows right through the flashing red and he starts honking the horn and braking but the car kept going. The girl ended up swirving the car, jumping the curb and slamming into a tree. Her car was totalled! DH said he sat in the car for a minute, heart pounding, then got out to make sure she and her passengers were ok. As soon as he gets their he tells her to turn off the car because fluid was leaking and the car could catch fire. He then asks her if everyone was ok and she said yes..then proceeds to yell at him and tell him "you had a red light!!" He said.."no actually you had a red flashing light and I had a flashing yellow..do you know what that means? It means you stop." She then says "you all were driving really fast". He says "you all? I'm alone, and there are no other cars on the road". He tells her he's gonna have to give her a ticket and she starts b*tching! He then calls for assistance and when the other officers arrive they give her a breathalizer test and she was OVER the limit!!! In that she saw someone she knew and starts bi*ching to him about
getting a ticket and how it was DH's fault. DH heard her and went over to her and said "you are lucky I don't take you in for DWI, but I'm giving you a ticket instead and you want to stand there and b**ch when you could have killed me?"
I told DH he should have brought her a** in for DWI and given her a ticket. I know I would have if it were me. He looked REALLY shaken up. I don't know what I would have done if he would have been hurt...
It's amazing to me how he has a better chance of being hurt by someone like her than getting shot! I don't know what it wil take for people to stop drinking and driving!!!
I'm glad her car was totalled...that's all she was concerned about!

 i'm so glad your DH is okay!
he definitely should have brought her in for DWI! she could have really hurt someone... or herself! she needs to learn a lesson so she won't do it again!!

Thats scary. Your DH should have arrested her.
I am so against drinking and driving since one my friends was killed. She got caught and got let go she will probably go out and do it again

i'm so glad your DH is okay!
he definitely should have brought her in for DWI! she could have really hurt someone... or herself! she needs to learn a lesson so she won't do it again!!
I agree, I am shocked that she was not arrested...what of she did not crash and total her car and drove on to hurt or kill someone else....
I am glad your dh is okay though

I agree completely. Dont know why he didnt bring her in..I know he said she was 1 point over the limit. 1 point or not..I would have dragged her butt in!!! I didn't want to get on him about that because he was upset...but I do agree..he should have brought her in.

I agree with this. She should have been arrested and she could have killed someone. A ticket is not a punishment for drunk driving, jail time is. My brother was killed by a drunk driver and it makes me sick to think that people get away with this all the time.

It's not her anyone else cares about, it's the innocent lives she could have potentially taken by driving under the influence. If that happened, I would hate to see what would happen to your DH (in terms of being responsible).
I'm glad he is okay though, how scary!!
