Dermatologist ? Dont know what to expect
I have an appointment today to have all beauty marks check out but I am not sure what I should expect since this is my first time. Do I have to get completely naked ? I am a little nervous but I had to make this appointment since my sister was just diagnosed with stage 4 skin cancer....
Any experiences are welcomed....

Not sure about beauty mark checks but I go for annual skin checks since I was an avid tanner. At least at the 2 dermatologists I've been too, you get completely naked but have a paper gown.

I went to a dermatologist recently & I only had to uncover the places I had raised, new or discoloured birthmarks. The one birthmark that she wants removed she was ready to do that day in the office, but I am PG & was not comfortable with doing it before consulting my Ob.

I need to get this done- I have been putting it off
I have gotten it done before- when Iw as younger and they removed 1-
but I have a new one that I just noticed- it's not irregular shape- but you just never know- so thank you for posting this and I am so sorry about your sister

For a full skin check they do. Yes ...everywhere there is skin. I used to go to tanning salons though. If you're only going for beauty marks, they may not do it (although they probably should to be on the safe side).
There are parts of your body that are exposed that you may not consider, e.g.. behind the ear, scalp, between toes. With your sister's diagnosis ( ), they should be as thorough as possible.

I went and was completely naked except for underwear because I know I don't have any birthmarks or freckles there. They will look everywhere, even on your scalp.
I am sorry to hear about your sister

I am actually going to do this next Thursday. I have been before in the past. They do a spot check of your entire body. It is a good habit to get into, especially if you have any deep tanning days in your past!

Thanks ladies for all of your insight....I am not sure if I am nervous about going or what they are going to find. I know I have most spots on my chest, back and arms.....I think my DH is making it worse..He is not comfortable with me being alone with this dr, who is male, while he searchs all nooks and cranies. I guess it is a guy thing. I just never gave it any thought until he mentioned it I guess because I wasnt sure what was going to take place.
Thank you ladies for your prayers for my sister....What she is going through is hell and what I am doing now I am hoping will spare myself and my family from going through it again. I guess the scariest thing is the type of skin cancer she has doesnt have any visiable spots. They actually do not know where the primary location is. The had to biopsy her tumor to find out.

I knew where all my
bad moles were, so it was easier for me. I always "prepare" just in case though
