eyes and face. I know that's a sign of being tired, but its all the time. Do you think her skin is itchy or maybe she's just not getting enough sleep? I feel bad, her eyes are all pink and puffy from her messing with themChat Icon

It's probably also because she's discovering that she has hands and can kind of "control" them. Unforutunately there's not much you can do to stop her from scratching. You may want to moisturize her face, just to make sure it's not dry skin that's bothering her.

Re: DD is constantly scratching at her

My DD does this too! I keep mittens on her b/c when I take them off she has new scratches and even with the mittens she will irritate her eyes I guess from the rubbing. Darn , I should have asked the dr yesterday at her visit about it!

edited to say, if I see dry skin I put aquphor on it, the derm told me to only use that on her face and hands. this I asked when she was a week old she had dry skin on her chin and lips.

she fights her naps too, but she even wakes up from her night sleep doing it. She has some of those red and white bumps on her face, but not too many.

DD was always trying to claw her eyes out when she was very young. She still pulls at her ears and hair when she is tired or hungry.

Bella does it too. i used the mittens for the first 2 weeks - now i just keep making sure her nails are short so she doesnt leave any marks. she seems to do it when she wants her bottle. i hate when she does it to her eyes though - it makes me nervous.

Is she still all peely? Often it takes sometime for newborn skin to adjust to air. I would put the mits on her if you have them.

eta. My ped told me no need for moisturizer during that time as you want their skin to get used to air on its own & you don't want to interfere with that process.

DS does this also and I think it's more than just being tired. I think the cold weather is making his skin dry. I'm using aquafor to try to help.

well she's 8 weeks now and hasn't been peely in a while.

I definitely think she needs more sleep. Even though she's in her crib and quiet for hours I see her awake and she's a terrible napper.

Can you swaddle her? Would you consider belly sleeping?

My doctor recommended aquafor also. She said to apply it after their baths and once during the day. I have been using mittens also since Michael has been drawing blood recently.Chat Icon
