DD has Red Eyelids

DD has had had red eyelids since she was born. At first I thought it was just because of a difficult birth (emergency c-section) but she is now 9 weeks old and still has them.

It looks like she was hysterically crying and broke blood vessels, that's the best way to describe how they look.

I keep forgetting to ask her doctor and on some days it's worse than others.

Any ideas on what it could be?

TIA!!

Re: DD has Red Eyelids

DD has very fair skin (like me). Her upper eyelids were red until about 12 weeks. I think her skin there was translucent so you could see the blood vessels.

She is 16 weeks now and they are still a bit pinker than the rest of her face but getting closer to her skin tone as time goes on

ETA: here is a photo of what her eyes looked like at 4 weeks. She is sleeping on my lap right now and her eyelids aren't nearly this red anymore.

My DD's eyelids look exactly like the above poster's DD. My DD is 11 1/2 weeks now. I am fair skinned so I wouldn't be surprised if they always look a little like that.

Re: DD has Red Eyelids

My DD is 4 weeks old and has red eyelids too...she's very fair skin though. The ped has checked her out a few times and never mentioned it so I assume it's normal.

Kaitee had that and our Ped said it will go away before the age of 3. Kaitee's is already gone (she is 16 months old). Chelsea has it now too.

Re: DD has Red Eyelids

my daughter had it for months. Eventually she grew out of it. The dr. gave me some creams to try but nothing ever really worked.

Re: DD has Red Eyelids

It is totally normal-it is similar to a "stork bite" or an "angels kiss" it will fade over time.
