Daily Schedule...

What is everyone's schedule in terms of naps, feedings, bath?

Also do you have specific morning routines? nightime routines?

Re: Daily Schedule...

We have a morning routine and evening routine but nothing really set in stone for the day. I really want to get them on a nap schedule.

Morning routine - get them up, wash their faces/necks, dress them, then 1st morning bottles. Starts around 7:30 am.

Evening routine - bath (every other day), baby massage, nap on daddy for about an hour, final bottle, bed. I wish i could cut out the nap on daddy but they are just so cranky at that time and they pass out as soon as they lay down on him. They are given their last bottle at 7 pm and this winding down routine starts around 5pm.

During the day, they play on activity mat, sit in bebe pod, eat, sit in swing, glider, pack n play, watch baby einstein, read stories, look in the mirror, etc.

Re: Daily Schedule...

daily routine......the day usually starts around 7:30 am....they get dressed, the activities vary....baby einstein DVD's, playgym, and the new thing now is they LOVE the Noggin Channel (especially the Wonder Pets).
Their naps are pretty consistent, although Christopher takes longer and more naps that matthew.
The day time we usually read books, play with rattle toys.
At night....we get a bath every other day. We play on the bed on their boppy pillow and play together, well we try to get them to play together.
They have been going down a little later at night now...which is probably why they are finally sleeping longer at night.....Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Daily Schedule...

We start at about 7-7:30am. I dress them, feed them, read a book, they take a quick nap (my opportunity for breakfast and shower!).

We go out around 9am and do errands. They are usually sleeping during this time. We generally return around 11-11:30 and have belly time/playgym.

Noon - they eat again. Swings, rattles, toys. They nap at some point during the afternoon.

Walk outside (weather permitting). Playmats, watch one Einstein DVD, etc.

They bathe every other night. We do it in between the last 2 feedings (somewhere around 7ish). They have their final bottle around 10, are read a book, listen to music, go to sleep. And the routine begins again...

Re: Daily Schedule...

Thanks everyone!

Just a couple of questions:

About how old were they when you started this routine?

How do you feed them? At the same time?
One after the other?

The "official" routine started immediately... I always allow for exceptions - as everyone knows it's not always possible to set it in stone. As they got older there was less sleeping during the day, more activity. That was the major difference for us. I used to feed simultaneously - now I do one at a time b/c they feed so much faster and they have rice cereal in their formula which makes a mess.

Re: Daily Schedule...

This has been our routine - we have been getting into this routine for the past 2 weeks or so:
Wake between 6-7 for a feeding.
Put them back to sleep - I either stay up to clean or go back to sleep and set my alarm - I then get up before their next feeding to shower.
I feed them - then bathe them (washing hair every other day), brush their hair, baby massages, dress them.
Go in bouncy seats, swing, playmats, photoshoot (hehe) etc.
Next feeding - they sometimes nap after this one
Baby Einstein DVD or playmat while I make dinner
Feed them - DH is usually home by this time. Then we put them in their Papasans while we eat.
Change them, put their PJs on - and put them in their crib to watch their mobile - they usually fall asleep around 11 or so. I'm hoping to make this earlier, but I have to work on that.

If we go somewhere then the afternoon gets changed a bit, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

My guys go to sleep rather late too, but I found that's what I had to do to get them to sleep the same hours as we do. WHen we used to put them to bed at 8, they would (even on a good night) still wake at 3 hours to feed. I'm assuming that as time goes on and they are more awake during the day, they'll go to bed earlier and still sleep through the night, right? Hm...Chat Icon

Yes that's exactly it! Or if we do try and put them down around 8 or 9 they're cranky - crying in their crib - throwing out their pacifier and that will go on until we feed them again around 10 or 11, then they're fine. We're really hoping this doesn't continue forever! Chat Icon

Re: Daily Schedule...

It varies a lot but i am trying to get a routine down.

THey wake usually between 7-7:30AM. If one gets up before the other does i put them in front of the TV until the other wakes up. Then i feed both of them.

The next three hours they watch Sesame Street, Boobah and Telletubbies. They love these shows.

Then i feed them around 10-11. After that bottle its nap time. Usually i can get an hour out of them. When they wake up I do play activity mat with them and tummy time.

They have another bottle between 1-2 and then more entertaining of them. Baby Einstein DVDs, holding them. They usually will do a cat nap too.

Another feeding around 5ish. After this bottle it's usually total chaos from them. They like to be entertained or held. Sometimes we let them watch more TV.

After the 8 bottle i have been trying to get them to sleep. Some nights it works..others it does not.

I bathe them every other day usually mid morning before their 11 bottle. If i can't do it then, i will do it at night, always before a bottle if i can.

They also sleep on and off most of the day. I am just getting their set nap down now. They are 4 months. I am hoping that it will get longer as time goes on and they cat nap less.
