Cruise with a toddler

For those of you who have cruised with a toddler, what did you do about taking excursions with your little ones? Specifically regarding a bus/van and a car seat?
I was hoping to not take the car seat on our cruise (it leaves out of NYC so we will just leave it in our car) but I wasn't sure of what to do on excursions. Chat Icon

Re: Cruise with a toddler

I was having this EXACT same dilema, we are taking DD on a cruise end of July, she will be almost 17 months.
We decided not to take the huge Britax with us. I am going to hold her on my lap for the rides to the beach (on 2 islands), then the other island we literally dock and walk to the beach...

In other countries you do not use a carseat. I will just put Andrew on my lap for the bus rides, etc.

Thank you, I was thinking the lap will be best as well. Maybe even the baby bjorn if he will still go in there!

For those of you cruising in July, I will let YOU know, we are going in June! Chat Icon

I also don't think there is anywhere to even put the carseat on those vans...They are just long seats, no seat belts or anything anyway...and then you would have to lug that thing onto the beach too, brutal!

I took my son on a cruise when he was 16 months. When we went on excursions we held him very tight.

We went on that cruise in October and had a great time!

DS was 6 months old at the time and we didn't bring a car seat. We just held him in our lap and I prayed the whole time! Chat Icon Chat Icon We did bring the stroller everywhere though. In Bermuda you can also use the ferries to travel between towns, which I felt more comfortable with than the taxis and vans. We used the ferry to go to Hamilton, but took a taxi to the beach.
