Crib mattress and Angel Monitor

We use an Angel Monitor and we just changed Liam from the bassinet in the pack and play into the crib (or will be tonight!) - but DH put the Angel Monitor under the mattress. We tested it out and the monitor didn't work. So I put it over the mattress but under the quited mattress cover and crib sheet. I don't think he'll feel it. But because the mattress has that slippery material I'm afraid the monitor will slip out of place. What do you do if you have a crib and an Angel Monitor? Thanks!

We did have it on a hard surface under the mattress. We had it on a piece of plywood. Didn't work.

WHat sensitivity setting did you have it on?

I wouldnt let DC sleep on top of it- it needs to be under the mattress...

Re: Crib mattress and Angel Monitor

We used ours for DS 3 years ago, and just put a piece of plywood over the spring support, and under the mattress, and the monitor on the plywood. Doing the same thing now for DD. It's worked perfectly both times. A little too good sometimes! DS would scoot to the very edge of the mattress, and the sensor wouldn't feel him anymore. Talk about a panic the first time! Luckily, even though DD moves around, it's in a circle, so she stays over the sensor. No false alarms this time.

I don't know, I will ask DH to check. Is it the dial on the back of the base of the monitor?

Maybe you have a broken unit.

My first unit was faulty. It would go off in the middle of the night numerous times, even though everything was okay. After some sleepless nights, I decided to exchange the unit. Angelcare/Unisar didn't give me any problems at all and gave me a brand new one. Now, my unit works perfectly.

You can exchange for a new one at their Manhattan office. You just have to bring it in and they'll test it out for you. You don't even need a receipt or the original box. Just make sure you tell them it's new, because there's like a time-specific warranty on it?

Maybe I'll do that. Do you know where in Manhattan the office is?
Thanks.

ps- it works fine if we keep it on top of the mattress - I have a quited mattress pad over it and then the sheet. So far he's not been uncomfortable about it.
