I like costco better, I just like the quality of the stuff they carry better, esp their own Kirkland brand. I also prefer their bakery to BJ's, its bigger and has much more variety and imo the quality is much better. They send out coupons all the time so we always use them when we go.

Bj's bakery is not so good. At least the pastries aren't, in my opinion. But their prices usually are.

i agree. the value you get from the kirkland brand is awesome.

positives to BJs though: if you're a Mom of infants/toddlers, they carry a lot more baby products at good prices. they also take manufacturer's coupons and some stores have their own gas stations.

BJs has more of a variety of items, while costco tends to have the same items all the time.

I prefer costco though, i find the quality of their meat to be better and also their bakery to be better.

From what I hear - costco has a much bigger selection thatn BJ's -(there is not one near me - so I don't have a membership) But we do have a BJ's membership and what I love is that they send you a coupon book every month for stuff. Buy one get one free, save $3 etc. and you can use manufacturers coupons if you have them (don't think you can at costco)- There are times where I have saved up to 60 bucks off my bill from using coupons!!! I also heard that costco only takes limited forms of payment but I don't know for sure...

Re: Costco vs BJs - what is better

It's funny because I have both memberships and I go to both places for different items. I like the fact that you can buy products at BJ's that aren't necessarily in bulk like their breads and produce. Costco has great flowers and outside stuff. I also like Costco's meat better. Sorry I am no help because like i said earlier i go to both places for different stuff.

Re: Costco vs BJs - what is better

Like others have said, each have something that is better than the other. BJs has a deli counter that Costco doesn't. I only buy the Kirkland brand of certain items though (paper towels, wipes, diapers) I have a membership to both since I use them for different purposes Chat Icon

Costco has one big downfall. Cash or American express only. You can't even debit there. It's so stupid!!

I prefer BJ's I like that it has less of a warehouse feel than Costco. Costco gives out more samples so DH prefers Costco. We have memberships to both

You can debit, you just have to enter your pin so that it goes through as a cash transaction.

I also belong to both and use both for different stuff. If you have or are planning on having a baby soon and I had to choose one over the other, I would say BJ's, othewise Costco.

You can also write a check. I go to Costco with my parents sometimes and they usually write a check if they aren't paying cash.

I like them both for different things so it depends on what your needs are.
