Confirmation gift from sponsor?
So, I have a bit of an unusual situation.
I'm a CCD teacher and although my group is all ages, I've been working most closely with the group preparing for confirmation.
One of the boys does not have a sponsor (weird family situation, I think), so I am going to be his sponsor. I'm actually pretty excited about it because I adore this kid.
I feel like I should get him a gift because I'm his sponsor. I don't know what to get him though. I'm mainly his teacher and not a relative, so something like a gold cross would be going over the top (not to mention expensive). I don't really feel comfortable giving cash. I'd rather give him some kind of meaningful gift for him to remember his confirmation.
Is there a standard gift for sponsors to give to confirmands? What are your thoughts?

That's a tough one....
I was my cousins sponsor and I gave her a gold cross but I understand why you wouldn't want to do that.
Do you know anything about him personally? How much are you looking to spend?
He is what, 13 or 14 yrs. old? Kids that age are so tough to buy for b/c they are so particular . 
I remember the good ol days when people would give bonds as gifts. Life was easier then!

I would probably just get him a gift card to some sort of store you know he will like.
It would be so much easier with a girl 
If you know enough about him.. I'd pick something he's interested in and go with that (i.e. if he play guitar.. get him a GC to Guitar Center or Sam Ash or something)
I know that's not really "memorable" or signifying his confirmation.. but it's so hard w/ boys.. and at least it will show you care and pay attention

I don't think there's a "standard" Confirmation gift from the sponsor. DD was just confirmed and got a lot of $$ and jewelry but I understand you not wanting to go that route. What about a nice Bible? You can write something special in it like "It was wonderful having you in my class and an honor being your sponsor."
