Computer Service and Repair Recommendations
Hi Gang...
My laptop is acting all wonky (yes, that's a technical term  ) so I'd like to have someone check it out and if need be repair it.
Please recommend anyone you may know of, I need to do this ASAP!
Thanks in advance...
ETA: Has anyone ever used Geek Squad? I was thinking about using them but I'm just not sold on the fact that they're the best route to take. I'm thinking they're going to be expensive and I'm not sold on their ability.

I have not personally used them, but have heard a few success stories. If you are in the Lindenhurst area, I can get you the number of a place that my SIL used and was really happy with. I think she paid around $100.

BJ - I'm in West Islip, so Lindenhurst is no problem.
BB - Basically my problem is that my laptop is running SUPER hot and then it craps out.
I'm running on Windows Vista, but not the upgraded version.
I also think I'm short on memory. I'm looking at external drives (Iomega, Western Digital and Seagate) about 1TB in size to dump all my multimedia files on (music, movies, pictrues, etc) as well as data but was thinking of expanding the memory b/c I'm planning to install the adobe creative suite on my laptop...
The other day I was working on it and it crashed...I got the dreaded blue screen. I forget what the message was but clearly it's not good.
I'm worried I'm going to lose all my files.

Is it a Dell? If so, they do have a battery problem. My work laptop needed a new battery.
This won't help your laptop but you shoudl buy an external hard drive & back up your files.
I did attempt to use the Geek Squad but didn't opt forthem. They were pushing for me to buy a new computer.
