Colicky/fussy baby

When does a baby begin to be colicky?

Steven is only one week old, but he is soooo good and I'm wondering when the colic kicks in. Am I safe because he is still so good, or can this change at any moment?

Not all babies are colicky....

yours may not be, so try not to wait for it--lol

Julia wasn't colicky at all, but my girlfriends son was and it lasted for like 6 months she was a mess, I felt so bad but there isn't much you can do about it.

Re: Colicky/fussy baby

I think after six weeks if they don't show signs of colic you can breathe a sigh of relief

Re: Colicky/fussy baby

I am by no means wishing it on, but just thought I would ask when it could start.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Colicky/fussy baby

First 2 weeks home, Nikolas was really good. I really started noticing the colic at about 3 weeks.... it's gotten somewhat better lately but I think we'll be riding this out until 12 weeks at least (hopefully not longer Chat Icon)

It can still happen, but I hope for you sake it doesn't!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Colicky/fussy baby

I think its pretty much true all around that most babies are angels for the first 2 weeks of life..they are sleeping most of the time and exhausted...the "true" baby personality usually kicks in around 2-3 weeks. Wishing you luck!!! My DS is not colicky but he did go through a few fussy times between 2-6 weeks and was a very different baby than the sleeping angel I first brought home, lol!

I totally agree with you. Matthew was not colicky but did have fussy moments. He still does! But it's not as bad as it was in the beginning.
