I'm not sure how easily you can catch mono from someone.

She's in work with both mono and brochitis? That's really irresponsible, you can get a lot of people sick that way. When I was working I hated when really sick people would come in.

Actually I don't think that bronchitis is too easily catchable either.

Re: co worker has Mono

Mono could be spread through coughing. Its very rare but could be done.

Before you've been on antibiotics for 3 days bronchitis is definately communicable. I passed it to my brother through coughing back in high school.

ETA: and I gave my hs boyfriend mono, but that was through the traditional way. Chat Icon

Re: co worker has Mono

I thought once you had mono that it always stays in your system. Are you worried about it waking up so to speak?

Use lots of Lysol or alcohol wipes! And don't let anyone use your phone/computer/pens/etc!!!

Supposedly if you've had it before you can't get it again. Just like the chicken pox.

Re: co worker has Mono

Mononucleosis is an illness caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a member of the herpesvirus family. Similar symptoms and illness are sometimes caused by cytomegalovirus, which is also a member of this family of viruses.

EBV is transmitted through the saliva. Young children can be infected from the saliva of playmates or family members. Adolescents with the virus can spread EBV through kissing (hence its once popular name, "the kissing disease"). Epidemic outbreaks in hospitals and workplaces have occurred.
Mono is a self-limiting disease; symptoms usually go away on their own within 2 to 4 weeks. The fever and sore throat usually subside after 2 weeks, but the enlarged lymph nodes and spleen can persist for a few more weeks. In some children, especially teens, fatigue and weakness may last for weeks, and occasionally months.

Contagiousness:
EBV is contagious - it is transmitted through the saliva of an infected person by coughing, sneezing, and kissing. Susceptible people should avoid contact with those known to have active mononucleosis; the virus can continue to be excreted in saliva and repsiratory secretions for months. In general, strict isolation procedures or special precautions are not needed. People with recent EBV infection should not donate blood.

I found the above and i would be ****** off is someone was coming into work with it

Re: co worker has Mono

It is contagious. When I was a child, I caught it from a girl whose mom was friend's with my mom. I rarely saw the girl, but after she "was better", she came over one day to visit. I caught it from her and that was only from being in the same room together.
