clothing size for 4 yr old boy

My son is going to be 4 in May. I am trying to shop online for his spring/summer clothes. Right now, he wears a 4 in jeans, and a 4 in shirts. I think I am going to get him a 4 in shirts, because the waist on the jeans are the adjustable ones, and I make them tight, but I am not sure about shirts...should I go to a 5?

What are you ladies doing?

I always get bigger in the shirts, they shrink and its ok to be bigger for a while, pants on the other hand will fall off...

DS is about the same size as your DS it sounds like.
Currently he is mostly 4/5T tops and 4T pants.

I am doing 5T shirts and then 4 shorts. I like DSs shorts to be just below knee length so I think we can get away with the 4T. Also I find now with DS potty trained I sometimes have issues with 4T pants falling down on him even with the adjustable waist, I dont want to have to be pulling up his shorts all summer.
