Client Services Suggestion- rules

Since a lot of threads have been pulled lately, and a lot of people are wondering why, I'd like to suggest that LIF post some forum "rules" on a locked topic on top of the board.

We all know the basic rules, but since some threads that to many seem pretty civil have been pulled, and many of us have been left Chat Icon , I think explicit rules for what will get pulled, get you banned, etc... might be a good idea.

I'd love to see it.

But I don't think you'll get any more than Section 3a and Section 5

I get that, but "You shall use the site for lawful purposes only. You shall not post or transmit through the site any material which violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others, which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, profane or otherwise objectionable, which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, gives rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law. "

Doesn't specify the kid of behavior that is "otherwise objectionable". And I think that is what is going on.

Now after 7 last night, I didn't see where that pulled post went. And I didn't see anything on the second post that fit the description above. So I think many of us would like a clarification. The is to prevent the need for threads to be pulled. Of course, some will need to be pulled, but at least there can be an open awareness of what is forbidden and what will cause a thread to be pulled.

I agree and I'd like the clarification too.

I was just putting in an opinion that they are never going to give any more rules than what is posted in their standard disclaimer.

Re: Client Services Suggestion- rules

I guess this can be summed up in one sentence.

It depends on the mood of the current administrator!

If her husband bought her flowers on a particular day, she will go easy on things. But if he bought her an iron for her b-day, watch out! Chat Icon

This is really a hard one to answer because there are so many different factors that can come into play. Many times a thread is removed because it is easier than removing the few posts where things got out of hand. And it removes the entire situation from being fueled.

Also, there have been times where someone posts something bad and the thread is removed before people see what it was. That's why sometimes a thread is removed and people are saying Chat Icon

Other times a person is privately warned, they do not heed the warning thus they are banned. Point is, you may not have all the facts.

Basically, the rules are the rules. Yes they are broad in nature because, well that's the way our attorney wrote them! (just being honest)

AND, we have a few people with admin rights and they unlike most of the rest of us Chat Icon are not perfect. They are just trying to do what I ask them to do. Sometimes they are right and other times not. But when it comes down to it, this is a message board. Some things should not be taken so seriously, okay?
