Classroom Management Ideas for Middle School
Does anyone have any suggestions for classroom management skills for 7-8? I have no problem when I sub in K-5 (1-6 is my certification), but the last two times I was called into sub for middle school, I struggled big time. I hate this feeling. I would really appreciate it!

In my opinion, subbing in a middle school on an irregular basis is one of the hardest things a teacher has to go through!
I teach in a middle school and when I get emergency coverages for classes within my school it is still a hastle.
Does the school give you a lesson plan to work with? Any work for the kids? Or are you on your own?

Keep them busy every second of every period! Aim for no down time whatsoever.....
Promise some kind of "fun" thing for the last 5 mintues if they are good. I would play Billy Joel music (kids are wierd I know!) at the end of class if they cooperated.

The teachers have all given me lesson plans when I've been there, and it doesn't matter. It's all busy work, they don't care, and they still act out. It's frustrating. I wish there was something I could do better, or some methodology I could use.
